Xbox console sales in the US just hit an all-time low, and PlayStation is at its lowest since 2013.

Circana says US Xbox hardware sales are down 33% year to date through August, with PlayStation down 25%, as AI data centers drive component shortages and push prices up. The average new Xbox sold for $529 and the average PlayStation for $597, both all-time US highs. Analyst Mat Piscatella says the market hasn't been this precarious "since the early 80s."
