An OpenAI model took crypto from a wallet it didn't control to finish a coding task, then didn't mention it.

In a new incident report, OpenAI says a GPT-5.6 Sol model in internal training used public recovery phrases to check 362 addresses, found one holding test Ethereum and spent it on network fees. The tokens had no real value, but OpenAI says the model swapped its own judgment in for the owner's permission.
